Help Me See: Photo Consciousness with Bianca Lea Morra

Help Me See is a living audio journal about the art of living awake.

this isn’t really about photographs. it’s about photographic consciousness - a way of being and meeting life through the moment before you even think to take a picture.

I talk about what I’m making and what I’m unmaking,
how the self creates our lens,
and the ways we return to our own aliveness when we see beyond the image.

if you’ve ever felt the ache to be here more without even really knowing what that means-
you’re in the right place.

Join photographic artist, writer, & educator Bianca Lea Morra as we discover living through full body seeing.

This is something I don't see talked about and not only is it a very common occurrence in my life, but keeping perspective on this topic is key for managing my energy and feeling good with my creation process & myself.Today's podcast topic is so engrained in me that it took me 68 episodes to even realize this it is an important thing to talk about.I am deeply grateful for my way of seeing…but sometimes it doesn't feel good. period.When you see the 47 layers of meaning in everything you see from the sun coming through the window in a strange way to weeds growing through cracks in the sidewalk, it can be so energizing & exhilarating- but it can also feel like shit. It's easy to not do something about what you don't see. But when you see something profound, you feel an impulse- a responsibility- to honor it in some way. To help others see it. To engage with it. To not “take it for granted” by just moving past it.Often times this is taking a photograph. But just because you see it doesn't mean it is your duty to create something- even though it sure as hell can feel like it sometimes.I don't have any grand solutions or ways to “fix” this. I don't even believe it needs to be fixed. I just believe it needs to be talked about. Shedding light on it lightens the heaviness of it.  It can help us soften and relax into our gifts. Dare I say- relax into the pure enjoyment of your gifts rather than posture at the compulsion to do.(^^^As I type this I laugh at how much I need to hear this.)If you love this conversation and want to dream into enjoying your vision in 2023 with me, sign up for my upcoming free workshop- The Help Me See Visioning WorkshopMore from Bianca:www.biancaleamorra.comBook Your NLP Breakthrough Session Meditations for Photographic Artists: https://insighttimer.com/biancaleamorraFree weekly coworking: PHOTO yogaMonthly Membership: Nostalgia, Now.IG: @biancaleamorrahttps://www.instagram.com/biancaleamorra/

In this episode I talk about how I really don't like and also really like the start of a new year. Feeling the pressure to "start anew" is daunting. I decided I want to take the pressure off and dream into what I want to see rather than what I want to do.Would you like to join me in doing the same?Help Me See Visioning Workshop SIGNUPMore from Bianca:www.biancaleamorra.comBook Your NLP Breakthrough Session Meditations for Photographic Artists: https://insighttimer.com/biancaleamorraFree weekly coworking: PHOTO yogaMonthly Membership: Nostalgia, Now.IG: @biancaleamorrahttps://www.instagram.com/biancaleamorra/

What if we stop obsessing over why something we did well was just a fluke/doesn't count or on the flip side- stopped trying to dissect it in order to come up with the formula for replicating and increasing efficiency.Sometimes trying too hard or questioning too much causes us to lose the thing that is so beautifully meant for us.In this episode I also give you a new year's exercise that is very connected to "Help Me See" <3Waitlist for Upcoming Course- Your Bigger Picture, For Intentional Photographic ArtistsMore from Bianca:www.biancaleamorra.comBook Your NLP Breakthrough Session Meditations for Photographic Artists: https://insighttimer.com/biancaleamorraFree weekly coworking: PHOTO yogaMonthly Membership: Nostalgia, Now.IG: @biancaleamorrahttps://www.instagram.com/biancaleamorra/

Truth be told- I need this podcast episode today. (Isn't it funny how sometimes we can feel so wise & totally “get it” and then other times you're growling and slamming cabinets like an angsty teenager because you were delivered soggy celery from the grocery store. ((the celery was the final straw.)))This will forever be the podcast episode where I talked with a tissue in my hand the entire time. I feel like I've been sick for a month & now I'm writing to you at 6 am with a sick kid home from school AGAIN. My eyes are burning and I'm listening to a christmas toy song on repeat for the 14 billionth time and my eye is starting to twitch.I have been tired, achey, & overwhelmed BUT this conversation reminds me that I don't need to figure out the answers to my life before taking the next step. This idea that in order to move forward, we must unpack everything or need to figure out all the answers is paralyzing. And also, false.Today on the show, my dear friend Jenny Sanchez. She calls herself the bad yoga teacher and she just created a wellness resource called Lessons From a Bad Yoga Teacher.  We talk about her story, her reason behind creating the resource she did, & why feeling good can feel like SUCH A STRUGGLE.  She essentially boils down centuries of sage wisdom into modern bullet points. She is hilarious, real, & there is approximately zero sugar coating. In fact the preview clip includes the big reveal: there is no “i have arrived.” There is no point in which we are immune to falling into a slump of feeling like shit. The point of this episode is talking about how the real magic is harnessing the ability to trust yourself to get back to feeling good bit by bit. It's not sexy sounding- but it is real and true and one of the most powerful things you can know.More from Jenny-15 minute Free Writing ChallengeHostedbyjenny.comhttps://www.instagram.com/hostedbyjenny/Free Memory Savoring Resource from Bianca-See Nostalgia Now GuideUpcoming Course for Photographic Artists- JOIN WAITLIST HEREMore from Bianca:www.biancaleamorra.comBook Your NLP Breakthrough Session Meditations for Photographic Artists: https://insighttimer.com/biancaleamorraFree weekly coworking: PHOTO yogaMonthly Membership: Nostalgia, Now.IG: @biancaleamorrahttps://www.instagram.com/biancaleamorra/

Our tools are amazing and I am so thankful for them- HOWEVER,Technology changes.Gear changes.Your taste changes. What's "on trend" changes. We commit so much time, space, & energy into putting a lot of effort into perfecting something only for it to change. What if that energy went into something far more timeless? Far more enduring? Far more fulfilling?Being present & calm in the face of nerves & constraint is the #1 reason I am always able to center myself in any shoot situation.Take a listen to learn more about this massive unlock.PS-Are you an artist looking to strengthen your vision & connection to your work? There I was in the middle of a session and my camera was crapping out on me.I was frustrated and felt really uncomfortable after the shoot...but when I stopped to really think about why- actually, why- I realized that the camera malfunction really wasn't what I actually cared about...Maybe momentum doesn't mean things progressing without a hitch- maybe it means finding ease and meaning and knowing even in the spaces that don't feel so good at the time.More from Bianca:www.biancaleamorra.comBook Your NLP Breakthrough Session Meditations for Photographic Artists: https://insighttimer.com/biancaleamorraFree weekly coworking: PHOTO yogaMonthly Membership: Nostalgia, Now.IG: @biancaleamorrahttps://www.instagram.com/biancaleamorra/

I turned my biggest fear into a beautiful vision for my life.

At 11 yrs old, I was in bed staring at the dark ceiling and I had my first ever panic attack while considering the meaning of death. I just kept thinking, "nothing. nothing, nothing, nothing." The idea that everything that was so important to me would eventually turn into nothing, was too much for my 11 yr old brain to handle.

I became obsessed with documenting, saving, & creating things with meaning. Grease stained lunch notes, home video stills, and creating immersive installations dedicated to loved ones present & passed-I viewed everything through a nostalgic lens. I saw through the current state and into the sentimental core of it all. I received my BFA in Photography and continued living my life with a deep desire to make it count & not miss it. (whatever "it " was)

In 2021, the death of my beloved dog, my first real loss in life, confirmed that the work I had been creating and my process for living it served a higher and an infinitely more expansive purpose. Grief, comfort, love, self discovery- I didn't find refuge in grand, polished places. I found what I needed in the chronicles of my seemingly mundane nothingness. There is was, the whole time. I knew it all along and yet- I needed to be reminded. Don't we always know? Sometimes we all just need reminding.

Since then I have launched a podcast, an intimate membershipeducation, & photographic commission offerings. All of my work is centered around showing you that your "nothing" is really your everything. All you have to do is see.

Join me at the intersection of mindful photographic practice, connecting to your truth, & creative expression so that you can live more of your life on purpose.
